Though spring had yet to arrive, a streak of sunshine and clear skies during early March’s Paris Fashion Week had attendees swapping out their winter layers for lighter, more vibrant outfits. For some, this called for a bit of last-minute shopping.
Both on the streets and the runways, a strong connection between fashion and rock ’n’ roll took center stage. Outside the shows, the influence appeared in leather jackets, flared trousers, and edgy, sculpted hairstyles.
On the runway, the Japanese brand Undercover embraced the rocker aesthetic, seemingly drawing inspiration from iconic female musicians like Patti Smith and Kim Gordon. Junya Watanabe took a more abstract approach, pairing bell-bottoms with avant-garde tops that felt tailor-made for an artist like Björk. Her presence was also felt at the Acne Studios show, where a remix of her hit “Human Behavior” pulsed through the venue.
