MG is set to launch its first seven-seat SUV in Australia, with the MG QS 2025 being revealed through government documents ahead of its official arrival in showrooms in the coming months.
The MG QS is larger than the Toyota Kluger but smaller than the now-discontinued Mazda CX-9. It will be available with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, with a plug-in hybrid variant expected to follow.
The QS is anticipated to be based on the Roewe RX9, a seven-seater available in China, similar to how the MG HS is built on the Roewe RX5. However, unlike the HS, which features unique exterior styling compared to its Chinese counterpart, the QS appears to be a direct rebadge of the RX9, distinguished only by MG branding on the front, rear, and wheels.
Inside, the MG QS is expected to have a different interior design than the Roewe version, featuring two large 12.3-inch screens inspired by the MG HS, instead of the three-screen setup measuring 47 inches across in the Roewe RX9.
Under the hood, the Australian-spec MG QS will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 153kW, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission, making it a strong competitor in its segment.
As the official launch date approaches, MG is expected to reveal more details regarding features and pricing. The MG QS 2025 is set to be a significant addition to the brand’s SUV lineup in the Australian market.
