Disney+ has revealed the official trailer and key art for its highly anticipated limited series, Good American Family, featuring Ellen Pompeo, Mark Duplass, and Imogen Faith Reid. The series is set to premiere on March 19, launching with two episodes that explore the complex dynamics surrounding a family’s adoption of a girl with a rare form of dwarfism, raising profound questions about her true identity.

The drama unfolds through multiple perspectives, addressing themes of bias, trauma, and the complexities of familial relationships. It is inspired by unsettling real-life stories of a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with dwarfism. As they raise her alongside their three biological children, suspicions about her age and background begin to surface, leading the family to question her true identity.

While the adoptive parents feel increasingly threatened by the daughter they have grown to love, she embarks on her own journey to confront her past and envision her future. This intense narrative culminates in a dramatic confrontation that plays out in both the tabloids and the courtroom.

Good American Family features a talented cast, including Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, Sarayu Blue, and Jenny O’Hara in recurring roles. The series is created by Katie Robbins, who serves as co-showrunner alongside Sarah Sutherland. Ellen Pompeo also takes on an executive producer role through her production company, Calamity Jane, along with Laura Holstein. Additional executive producers include Andrew Stearn, Dan Spilo, Niles Kirchner, and Mike Epps, with Liz Garbus directing and executive producing the pilot episode.

Produced by 20th Television, Good American Family will release new episodes weekly, exclusively on Disney+ in Australia.
